I admire your enthusiasm, so many set backs and you just keep plugging away. Nice work
August 14, 2018 at 7:08 pm #26884I was actually menaing the transfer case, but tbh thinking about it I’m not sure what I expected!!
Ahhh ok, less than 10 moving parts in there!

Too stubborn to give up is all…
(the car is almost there but I have thought about breaking out the plasma cutter a couple of times)

A certain Ferdinand Porsche probably had the same atitude! Besides its a racecar, they always need development (and you have the skill to do it).
Good luck Sunday.
August 15, 2018 at 3:09 pm #26886Thanks Gary!

Well there ya go, I’ve been putting the rough running and lack of engine response down to the bandaid 5psi Tune, I’m guessing that burnt plug lead has been an issue for awhile now but as it makes so much power anyway you don’t really notice it in competition!
Crisp as the day I first built it now what a difference, back to the 600awhp tune and pulley I think it may be a handful Sunday so will go gently!

Posts: 5 777When Stephen Bell tiuned mine last time, he found #8 lead was only resting on the plug. Had the same issue, so much power/noise was hard to pick. Maybe some nice shroud to cover the gear linkage, or just clean it more regularly from now on?
August 15, 2018 at 5:11 pm #26888The Metal connector had slipped up inside the boot so wasn’t even close to being on the plug… (DOH)
Funny how when you have too much power missing some isn’t an issue…
Been running it almost 3 years now uncovered even the plastic scrapers on the cable had slipped off so were doing nothing, I found the bellows on eBay so it should be cool now!

Posts: 5 777Ah bummer, was looking forward to a report on how it went.
August 20, 2018 at 6:18 pm #26923Ended up going…
Race day Wrap up!
As most know I wasn’t going to go due to the weather, slept in Sunday morning and thought I’d head over to the track to check conditions in person.
As everything was already loaded and I CBF’d unhooking the trailer and I’d need to turn it around to upload anyway I took the Fat Bitch along for the ride..
The minute I walked out the door I got rained on… Strike 1, got about a km from home to find a tree across the road, wasn’t about to reverse all the way home to grab a chainsaw and as the tree was deadfall I was able to break enough of the branches off to squeeze the trailer through.. Strike 2.. crest the hill and the sun comes out, bonus round.
Get to the track to find I’m one of the last to arrive (felt really odd)Unload go though the stringent scrutiny then book in, get greeted then harassed by Clare Strike 3… 😂 Well 2.5 due to the sun.
Wallow around for 3 laps then the track dries out a bit, get off the dry line at the last corner and loop it.. DOH pissed at myself ready to call it a day to find out we have time for a 5th lap and a shot at redemption… and loop it again..
DOH X infinity.. all in all the day was a success though and the first time I’ve gone into an event with no issues and finished with no additional work needing to be done!
Car was faultless the driver not so much 😎
( I take solace that some of the “good” drivers that never put a foot wrong spun out as well)

August 21, 2018 at 12:24 pm #26928Thanks, not all good though the leak in the Trans is back so out it all comes again, a mate did an external Vid when I ran at Bendigo that highlighted a Suspension deficiency I’m correcting that first then will pull it down… again
August 23, 2018 at 3:51 pm #26945Suspension Mods are all done, had a Win on the Trans Leak, wasn’t the Front or Pump seal as suspected it was the pan again, retorque and it’s all good
