It is the problem with the 60/65.  I really think its just a matter of when not if at your kind of power levels.

Agreed, that and the AWD traction doesn’t help matters, the Trans in the Tonner is almost a clone build and it’s been fine at it’s power level even with all the towing I do in 4th..

I don’t shock load the Lexcen Trans so I’m guessing that’s why it never broke hard parts..

At this power level if it were 2dw it’d probably be more than fine as it’d just break traction, a set of sticky tyres would be another matter though..

Looks like a glass Bonnet. Alfa is making glass doors also now.

Nah just a couple of cans of Satin Black…

The Alfa parts are nice but if you buy everything they make for a VR you save 100Kg’s and lose $2500, not real good bang for the buck and seeing how my best lap times have all been with a passenger I can’t justify the outlay…

Other point is Glass parts won’t survive if I do stuff it into the tyre wall like last meeting, got home 5 minutes with a rubber mallet and it’s all good.

Guess they figure if you’re building on a VR you’re not that flash with the $$$  ;-)

I “think” if I got creative I could just about drop the 100 Kg’s using the steel panels, there’s lots of supports, intrusion beams, electric windows with real glass I could delete…

Maybe once I’ve got it mechanically reliable!

I am assuming its quicker with a passenger now dues to weight distribution not weight if ya know what I mean?  Lighter is always better isn’t it on a race car?

Yeah always, I’ve changed the way I set corner weights since discovering this and it was much better last event on my own, as I said once it’s no longer playing Trans Roulette I may do something about the weight, it’s around 1520 Wet now so not too bad for a big all steel car.

My mate runs a glass bonnet on his vn. Really light. I considered one for mine. But not needed. I don’t have  scoop.

LOL doubt the VR bonnet would be 50 Kg’s total let alone have a 50 Kg savings!  B-)

Tempted to go fibreglass bonnet too but looks like they bow if keep bonnet struts although 2.5k for 100kgs is steep lol

What are the doors like in weight saving & can they still take winder mechanism?

I spoke with the Alfa Guy awhile back, he said it’s around 100Kg weight savings if you get 4 doors, Bonnet and Bootlid… so averaging it out 16 Kg’s per piece and as far as I know all the stock hardware still fits.

Yep you’d need to source some softer struts for sure, maybe get some near dead ones and have them half regassed?
