What rpm did it go to on the dyno you have pic of on last page ??
It’s only 170km/h
Correct me if I’m wrong but you have 3.9 with t56 ??
At 6100rpm with 25.5 inch tyres witch a holden vn-vz has, (sometimes 26inch like my 20s) you should do 190km/h in 4th gear with a 1 to 1 ratio at 6100rpm
25.5 inch total tyre size
3.9 diff gears
4th gear (1.0 ratio)
5450rpm = 170km/hAnd that’s the very end of you graph well after power had fallen over
Don’t count out clutch slip
How do you know the clutch wasn’t slipping on dyno ??
April 12, 2015 at 8:50 pm #4584Isn’t that what I said few posts ago???
Disconnect secondary throttle link and u will get power increase and that will prove theory.
Get kalmaker tune done….

Yeah when you said it I remembered it had km/h on dyno and seen it was 170 and emidently thought that’s low
April 12, 2015 at 9:06 pm #4587Hi pete,
i was was talking more around Ecu…. Your above comments are also very viable…
hope he gets it sorted and enjoys it.
for the record my GTS had a single throttle tune in mine and I was lucky as was lean as fuck…

regardless where it made the 390 or not. It’s all of a sudden lost power whilst in his position. It’s got nothing to do with tune. Double check everything. Could possibly be something as stupid as MAT sensor. I had issue with mine. Although mine lost power as it gradually got hotter.
Do the test as is said and go from there. Wouldnt bother checking cam timing. Even if its out, it hasn’t moved from when u first got it. Wiped a lobe is prob worse case

April 12, 2015 at 9:17 pm #4589You’d hear the clutch slipping on the road or the dyno and smell it on the dyno. Clutch is fine. Limiter is set at 6300.
The car doesn’t magically lose its tune. It’s not tune related.

Posts: 5 777^I sort of agree, it’s the loss of power that is key. Something has changed/failed/moved, tunes don’t. Surely a 383 anything should turn the tyres in almost any gear wouldn’t it? IMHO, situations like this you go back and check the basics first, then go from there. Hope you get it sorted buddy.

Posts: 322As cav stated it doesnt add up, i read that you did a 13.8 quarter. My 260 rwk 355 did a 13.1 on a shit prepped track and prob a high 12 at a good track. So cant see the hp claim been true that old owner made.
Has it thrown any fault codes or anything? Stupid question, but air intake is clean? My ute runs like bum hole as soon as filter needs cleaning. Chokes up and get a really bad idle and lacks top end power.

April 13, 2015 at 7:22 am #4600Intake is clean. Made 2rwhp more with the intake removed. See we have crossed most of these little things off and no closer to a solution. I haven’t raced it. The old owner claimed it did a 12.8 (don’t know mph) in its current state.
Couple of other things to note.
It was throwing a check engine light every now and again and I noticed the intake was loose. I tightened it all up with new connectors and clamps and it hasn’t done it again. Also it has backfired on a few occasions between gear changes on wot. Lastly it is feeling a lot of jerky at low rpm when cruising along. Remember I drove this back from qld and it was nice as smooth the whole way.
Final thing was on the way back from qld when I stopped at a set of lights near Newcastle the speedo was bouncing around. Hasn’t done it again.

April 13, 2015 at 10:16 am #4610Runs a delco.
So I just spoke to the engine builder in QLD who was extremely helpful.
It is definitely a COME 383 roller motor. He confirmed it never had a custom tune and was only running the stock COME chip to go with the COME CSBR436 cam that’s in it.
On his dyno it was making 370rwhp or thereabouts and reckons the motor should do more with a custom tune as its full of good bits. Although its got only probably 10,000kms on the motor it was refreshed around 11yrs ago.
His suggestion is a dizzy issue or something playing up with the crane ignition setup that’s on it.

Posts: 322So it through a warning light and u haven’t checked what it is?? Could be a gucked sensor etc so I would check what fault code it is

I’ve got a new MAT sensor here for it as well at a new tps and map sensor so after that every sensor on the thing is new.

Have a look inside the dizzy cap and at the rotor button. My cap was arcing out on the rotor and causing these symptoms. The rotor had black burn marks on it.

April 13, 2015 at 3:44 pm #4653Whole new dizzy going in on Saturday. Fingers crossed we’ll find the problem via process of elimination soon enough.
