Top effort. looking forward to seeing it finished. Do you have the part number of the 4l60e bracket you ended up using?

BM70599 is the part number you can see the bracket sticks out further than the standard gm bracket

Just a question for you boys and girls.  If I were to design up in 3D a plastic bracket to replace the aluminum strip you have made up that holds the gear lights, and I guess it would include a little “fence” between each light etc, and be made in black.  And offer them for sale through my 3d printing business, I recon they would be maybe $30, would anyone be interested?

Someone would be stupid not to pay the $30 for a custom bolt in product.

BUT. People are butchers. Not many will go to this detail to getting a ratchet setup or any shifter setup to look this good.

Might prototype one up at some stage and try it on mine, always seems to take a few goes to get it spot on.  Then I can always put them up on the website, if people want them great if not no harm done.

:grr: :grr:   :grr:   :grr:   :grr:   :grr:   :grr:  How does f&&ck you sound i just finished fabbing my one up lol When i was doing it i thought of you (non sexual) as though how easy it would be as such a simple thing as simplu cut the bottom out of facia and this would drop straight in.

I am on a few forums and this method is getting a lot of thumbs up people would definitely pay 30 bucks plus the dekota to have a mint fully legal looking b&m. Once my one is finished ill post pics on a few fb pages and no doubt will get a lot of curiosity as apart from u guys who else has done it. I always wanted to u and once i seen yours i pretty much ordered the stuff the next day

So set up the leds, work mint, realised i grabbed some 24v ones, still worked mint. Anyway want to move them over just a bit as a bit to the right so you can see the led brighter to right side of window. (Bit anal i know)

Even if i go three speed will kepp this setup as third simply will not light up will go 2 straight to D

    looks nice and neat.

can you not reprogram the dekota so that overdrive = drive on your display and

drive on the dekota = 3 on your gear display?

    Hope that makes sense.

Actually yea u are right it would use 3 and d would just get skipped, as yes d on the 4 speed is the over drive gear.

Honestly this is such an easy thing to do dont know who other than vrsenator has done it but i think this will be a very common mod, its literally an hour of fabricating when it comes to the led install etc. Yes as cav has pointed out why bother with b&m shifter, i always hated the look of stock shifter and i like playing with shit, not engines, i suck at that!

I like pointless shit that involves fabricating etc :music:

Here is a pointless mod of mine that cav  over as doesnt make car faster. Lol ended up not using it, was a grp A air intake that some peanut cut up and made it side mount for traditional set up so i made it look stockish again.

so cut back off n fiberglassed a 100mm pipe in

simply did that to locate it then cut it to start to make the funnel part

sandpaper held its shape well and perfect to lay the glass over lol

    i can hear u laughing

then bogged it etc to get it looking close to stock

lol the slight sand paper logos stuck to resin

Maybe this helps you understand, i am not all about 9 second quarter miles……just like fideling with pointless shit

Looks bloody awesome to me, don’t worry about Cav, he was probably off his meds    (only kidding).  Lights set looks great.  So I reckon when I do the 3D printed part I might make t with just a small pilot hole of say 3mm in the light positions, that way you can decide to use LED’s, or lights like I did or whatever.  Being able to adjust it slightly left/right is why on that rough design above the mount holes are actually slotted to give some adjustment.

    Anyone wired the dakota up?

So got it all wired up and for some reason all the lights have a slight glow to them any ideas?

-the earth to unit is good

-the earth from globes is good or they would not work

-all solder points are heat shrinked individually so no chance of them shorting.

It works perfect in 2nd mode where every light lights up other than the gear you are in.

Faint glow, earth leakage or ground loop?  Tried a diode in the ground wire?

So as you can see i soldered all the grounds from the leds to on point so could ground to body. Is this incorrect?

I simply extended the positive led tails with a plug half way so could unplug it at shifter location as have situated the brain part near fuse box. As you can see in pic the earths completely separate to the positives etc

Try extending the LED earths wire to the same point as the main unit, to eliminate the possibility of a ground loop.

Yea tried that as was easy as ground for unit is from the cigi lighter loom, so tried grounding the leds to this as well. Makes no sense, as had some left over leds and pluged them straight into unit and they did same thing. Unless i fried something in unit?

As i didnt label wires so to figure out what LED was what would plug them in and unplug until correct light lit up if that makes sense.
