    Why can two engines that produce the same peak horsepower drive or feel totally different? Its all about the shape of the power curve not just the peak number. This is a great article on the concept of “area under the curve”

    Agreed, torque pulls you out of the hole, HP gives you mph. Power curve for a streeter vs strip totally different. Low down grunt is so much fun (and useable) on the street.

    In mathematical terms “average power” is EXACTLY what “area under the curve is” :)
