Attachment
The Attachments method (in the bottom corner circled below) is used just to post one or two small images quickly (4 max).
-The file size is limited to 512kB.
-This is not the preferred method for regular posts.
-It is a good method to post an image quickly directly of your PC.Simply select “Browse” and go to the image file on your device to post it directly.
When posting them this way they appear as thumbnails at the bottom of a post like this;

July 11, 2017 at 7:25 pm #23506Only “issue” with Facebook hosting is it’ll time out after a certain period and become a broken link..

What if you store all your pics on your own FB page & then link to them through that. Will the links still become broken after a period of time I wonder ?
July 12, 2017 at 3:14 pm #23523Yep same same OZ that’s how I do it and they time out, never really paid attention to the time it takes but it’s well over a year..

Posts: 5 777^so maybe it will always work as long as you get the link from an image actually on your own fb page in photos, but if you pick one from a post it will eventually time out?
July 12, 2017 at 3:44 pm #23526I think it starts from now so in a year or whatever the time is it’ll break the link, most of the stuff I posted on the LS1 forum a couple of years back are broken but they’re still on my FB page..

Posts: 5 777Yea right thanks, got it. I guess at least we have a temporary work around for now, maybe FB will see the “need” and make the links permanent.

Posts: 59I am not a bright spark when it comes to the computer world, but my thinking would say it is something like Photobucket where it would need absolutely massive storage capacity to be able to host a link forever & a day ? Maybe dropping links off after a year or so frees up computer power for FB.

Posts: 5 777My concern with Flickr etc is now bloody pussbucket has done what they have, who is to say the others won’t. What a right pita!
July 17, 2017 at 6:30 pm #23650Could understand PB doing it as a new policy on new pics posted but to retroactively apply it to existing pics is nothing but greed and in effect holding people to ransom as a LOT may not have the means to repost pics..
A lot of forums lock up threads after xx time so you can’t edit content..

I joined Flickr but found it not as user friendly as PB was. I have used Imgur which I am finding better.
