Posts: 5 777So it’s argon 4.2, from coregas.
July 24, 2017 at 4:22 pm #23730I’ll check what I’m using next time I’m down the Shed, it’s a CoreGas product but “should” be the same as ArgoShield Light from BOC.

Posts: 5 777Yea from memory I think it was the pick as a bit of an all rounder gas to do stainless and mild. Seems to weld ok.

Posts: 5 777Thanks Ian, so according to the Coregas site its good for mild steel.
July 25, 2017 at 4:02 pm #23748Yep, I’ve used it on Stainless no probs as well but the bulk of my work is Mild.

Posts: 5 777Only going to get a chance to work on it today, and sort of getting to the point where I am waiting on the panel stuff I have ordered to finish off the cargo floor including the B Pillars to above the hinges which are out of stock.
So thought I might tackle the buckle in the top of the bulk head, which has been bugging me. I also thought it was a relatively simple job. Had a bit of play at just pushing it out but it was a definite crease and using force just risked bending the rest of it.
So I cut a small slit into the bend and it allowed me to easily press it back straight. I ended up putting a small patch in, I actually loaded it bent slightly the other way, then with the heat it brought it back perfect. Its not perfectly finished off but when the time comes for paint, a small amount of filler and should be good to go.

Posts: 5 777Nice!! They are so cool aren’t they. One of the reasons I am hanging to get the Senator done is so I can get stuck back into restoring the Kombi.

Posts: 5 777Now the Senators almost done, can turn my attention back to the Kombi. Plan is to order the panels, as it can take months to get some delivered. That way late in the rear I am hoping to take 4 weeks leave and really get stuck into it. Cooper lives not that far from me and is a Kombi specialist so he came around today in his rat ’60 van he has just finished and went through all the parts I need. Cool as
And as it turned out yesterday I met a guy called Colin who owns this, which was stunning, and a little more like the style I am looking for.
June 2, 2019 at 1:55 pm #28805That rat one is cool but I reakon a mint White on Black would be sick.
Has their been a mention of colour?

Posts: 5 777Yea agree the rat is cool but not my thing. Yep the colour combo is picked, ivory over a bronze/metallic orange that Ford did for the 5oth anniversary Falcon called Sunburst. There’s a few similar colour, BMW have one too. I keep coming back to the change is look with angle of the Ford colour.

Posts: 5 777Thanks, Sands, yep had seen that one, I have to admit to becoming a bit of a Kombi youtube video junkie. It’s great to see all the different style of builds there are.
This is not the greatest, but it sort of gives the vibe I want to go for. I am going to go all polished aluminum window surrounds, all the side windows will be pop outs, whereass standard most were fixed and just the back two opened, also polished front safairis etc, but air bagged etc too.

Posts: 5 777A little like this, although this is a 23 window Samba, whereas mine is an 11 window. But more like this in the orange.
