Posts: 322Putting new carpet into the ute along with whole lot of interior tidy up/mods. Any tips on what i should do when doing carpet, obviously i have stripped out the seats and seat belts as have brand new ones to go in.
Did you get new underlay? Sound deadener, heat shield or anything like that? As my ute is modded and runs relatively high compression the trans tunnel gets nice and hot from zaust temps- This topic was modified 8 years, 7 months ago by Slow355.

Posts: 5 777I didn’t renew the underlay on mine, I just went over the orginal with the new carpet. But having had a car previously that gets hot on the floor (its no fun), maybe with yours its worth dynamatting it for both heat and noise?
May 9, 2016 at 8:54 pm #16721I have nothing under my carpet in vs (weight reduction)
its fuckin hot on the feet, it’s noise as fuck as well, if you hit the floor with your heel it feels like your kicking a old land cruiser door
dont do what I have done lol
I do how ever have super plush carpet so it does feel nice and I would strongly recommend getting that lol
get some good 10-15mm underlay, even if you only put it under flat parts under where feet go
Iv just got sound deadened textured paint but it paints on under car, I painted as much of in Monaro in rust proofing and it has thick foam on bottom of factory carpet to make floor flat and not moulded carpets like VN-vs are

Posts: 322Yea when i built my hq i filled every hole etc in firewall, sickaflexed around any dodgy grommets, sprayed shitloads of sound deadener onto floor, then thick underlay with alloy backing and thick carpet. The difference it made was astounding!!
Worried about getting to thick tho as vs plastics have to clip back over the top, not like hq where stuff could be screwed down like door sills etc

I layed Dynamat over the floor first and then put the factory moulded carpet back in and then used 3m aereosol fabric glue to glue the new carpet onto the factory moulded carpet. I placed some heavy objects on the carpet to stop them seperating while it set, was happy with the end result.
