Hi all, this is my VE r8. Bought it new in 2009. So far it’s had a sunroof installed. Hurricane duel 3 inch exhaust. Harrop 2300 blower , Npc clutch. Gts wheels , senator boot spoiler , 5% window tint and that’s about it really

August 2, 2016 at 9:57 pm #18842Enough to kill clutches. Only done 37,000 Klm & just put in my 3rd clutch. Turbo 400 conversion next time!
August 3, 2016 at 6:17 am #18844T400 will be the best thing you do to the car.
What clutches are your putting in it? Mates use a twin plate Mantic in his 560rwkw ride. It’s been perfect.

Posts: 19I have been using the gm 427 clutch pressure plate and flywheel for 70k no zero issues.
August 3, 2016 at 5:20 pm #18859Stock clutch got cooked at wsid so I put in a npc single plate heavy duty as recommended by them. Took it to wsid & cooked that one too so replaced it with the same again. Not going back to the drag strip from now on.
August 3, 2016 at 5:26 pm #18860I sold my Vk to do the th400 conversion but got talked out of it. Having no overdrive is a big sacrifice plus having no compression braking means chewing through the brakes a lot quicker & at close to $100o a corner for them that turned me off too. I should of just done it but I’ve spent the money I got from the Vk on another clutch, rip shifter & trutrac so I’ll have to save up again now.
July 28, 2017 at 6:36 pm #23788Small update. Just had the bearings replaced in the blower & added a rear gilmer drive whilst it was off the car.
4l80e conversion is on the way. Have ordered jakes performance stage 3 transmission, triple disk torque converter, single piece 3.5 inch alloy tail shaft. F.a.s.t stand alone transmission controller, tci flex plate, lokkar shifter, pwr cooler & custom crossmember. Just waiting for it to arrive from the states then the fun begins!
