its a mission making 4 into 1 fit in a vs yet alone in 2 inch pipes, I seriously doubt this could be made all in 1 and still be able to install them
i can can still get these in and out fearly easly, I need alternator out for front 2 pipes and need the front pipes out to install the rears but there is no undoing engine mount or jacking up like pacemakers
the main issue is getting 4 pipes past the steering arm and making them all similar lengths, that’s why I have no.7 looping around to try and get a bit of length on it
i have had to squash no.7 cyilendar a little to get past the steering arm but it will work quite fine
Hope fully I can get a set of slip on hooker collectors this week
May 25, 2015 at 12:14 pm #7223And cheers Gary, it’s not easy and takes a long long time
I dont expect them to look like art work as I’ll say now I suck at welding and I think that will show but I don’t care as long as I pressure test them and no leaks I’ll be happy lol
May 29, 2015 at 10:49 am #7315May 29, 2015 at 6:27 pm #7321Its355 has Absoutly wickid header. They are art work!!
May 29, 2015 at 10:38 pm #7331Iv seen a few custom pipes now and I must say to make ones like above is a level of expertise that is earned by the elite not just someone with a dream like me, it’s something one must do for years to be able to do some pipes like that
iv done some changes to myn after seeing others, can see in a pic above I cut little pieces to create some tricky bends I need to achieve to try and keep them similar length but I have thrown that part out and re done it
I’ll get some pics up tomorrow, I have the slip on collectors now and 2 pipes are connected with the 3rd nearly completed as well and have changed how 2 pipes go either side of steering arm and now have 3 between sump and steering arm and 1 out side it
For a first timer with no extractor making skills I’m doin extremely well but they won’t be as nice to look at as the ones above
May 30, 2015 at 3:34 pm #7333Update pics
iv had to weave cyilendar 5 to make it as long as possible
May 30, 2015 at 3:37 pm #73344th lucky trying to post pics

just got to weld them up and then do he cat and connect it to existing exhaust
May 30, 2015 at 9:19 pm #7348May 30, 2015 at 9:39 pm #7352And also the pipes are
cyilendar 1, 3 and 7 are 42 inches long and cyilendar 5 is 40 inches
close enough I suppose

2″ isn’t going to make any difference at all, well done!
May 30, 2015 at 10:12 pm #7356Thanks mate
I think 2 inches will make next to no difference at all as well
i just made them as close by eye while making them as its kind hard to measure something you haven’t made and turns out they are extremely close to each other
man it’s a tricky job, I was just stalking your page and your pipes look nice as and so does the rest of the car
May 30, 2015 at 10:19 pm #7359Thanks mate I think 2 inches will make next to no difference at all as well i just made them as close by eye while making them as its kind hard to measure something you haven’t made and turns out they are extremely close to each other man it’s a tricky job, I was just stalking your page and your pipes look nice as and so does the rest of the car
Thanks for that, it’s easy to get really Anal making headers but in reality unless you’re building a class car that competes within very strict class rules a couple of inches either way isn’t going to make any measurable difference in power output, I’d even go as far to say it’s probably within the +- error range of a chassis dyno so just not worth stressing over!
I tried a bunch of different routings before I settled on the pipes I made, the beauty of using mandrel bends is you tack it all together then if it’s not right just cut it apart and start again, biggest PITA is having to cold set it all after the final welds on the collector buy using Merge Collectors it’s not as critical!
HUGE sense of achievement when you finish so again well done!
May 30, 2015 at 10:31 pm #7360It is a massive sense of achievement that’s for sure
when I started I had a feeling it might get the better of me and at some stage my pipes would get jammed and stuck in there but some how I can get them in and out fearly easly
I to tried a few ways, I actually had pipes 5 and 7 mostly made but really didn’t like it and started again and has turned out much nicer and turns out if anyone else try’s this on the drivers side 3 pipes need to go behind steering arm and sump and 1 on out side of steering arm of your using 2 inch pipes anyway

Posts: 39Bugger trying this with a P/S rack lol
Also the pipes on ITS355 are porn. Mind you the ute itself is amazing.
May 31, 2015 at 2:38 pm #7369I think it would still be doable with power steering as 3 of the pipes go behind the steering arm witch is away from the hydrolic lnes and one 1 goes on out side and got a bit of room with that one and could get above the lines
I had a mate stay the weekend for drags and he has a VR with a 355 and has similar pipes to myn, 1 7/8 for 10 inches then 2 inch 4 into 1
he has a power steering rack but the main advantage is he has is a turbo 400 and half the bell housing isn’t there on them
I have a quick time bell housing for a t56 and its majorly in the way compared to a th400
either way way it’s a massive job and takes a long long time
