It’s going to cost the same for a new gear set, so might go for the 3.7’s
Im a bit worried that if I went with 3.46 it might not be quite enough

I’ve got a spare 3.46 gear set if you are interested Dan.

Posts: 435maybe?….depends on price…was leaning towards 3.7’s though
boss quoted be about $700 to supply a new gearset, including install which i thought was pretty good.
November 30, 2017 at 11:06 pm #25298Don’t buy motive gears. Get spicer

Posts: 435Pretty sure that’s what they quoted me on, they said there’s cheap and nasty ones around
I know the spicer ones are about $550-600 off eBay so $700 fitted seemed ok to me
also cava seen one of your posts on another forum somewhere, what involved in fitting a M80 into a VT series 1 5LT? mate of mine has his VT that is starting to whine, he would like a ratio change but not sure if he gets his original LSD rebuilt (not sure what gearsets fit), or just upgrade to the m80 type?December 1, 2017 at 6:07 pm #25304YOu just need to change the pinion flange on the diff. Or alter the tailshaft
If going m80 id get a true track. They are cheap at $500

Posts: 435Cava, for the fuel system can run a standard pump? or do i need to go aftermarket
any particular brands
December 21, 2017 at 11:05 am #25481At a minimum I’d get a Walbro gss342.
You also need a converter fuel reg and filter.

Posts: 435Looking to fit a new pump either way, one of my plans was to get a second hand Ls1 pump assembly and fit a walbro…. so I’ll go with something along those lines
as for the other parts is there any part numbers/brands I should look at in particular, types of regulator etc?

December 21, 2017 at 5:14 pm #25487No need for an ls1 hanger. Just use the stock one with a walbro gss342 which is 255LPH

Posts: 435December 21, 2017 at 10:27 pm #25494I don’t know the physical difference between the c6 and v8 hanger. I would assume they are all the same, which would work in the end.

Posts: 435standard the VY series 2 ls1 and VZ ls1 run the same pump assembly part no.
on the VY ecotec v6 they dont run a fuel reg in the pump assembly where on VZ Alloytec V6 and VZ ls1 they do run one on the assembly…..But VZ V6 and VZ ls1 Pump assemblies are still different part no’s. according to my workshop manual the VZ V6 and V8 both run 410kpa pressure at idle, they just flow different, VZ v6 is 1.7lt per min, VZ v8 2.5lt per min.
i think VY V6 has smaller outlets 5/16, so will have to use a VY/VZ V8 pump as it should be 3/8, VZ v6 Still has 3/8 outlet
hows that fuel reg work cava? i can use all the exiting fuel system from the fuel rails back to the supply?
December 22, 2017 at 8:44 am #25498what car is this going in again. I keep thinking it’s a vs FML.
The reg Is mainly used on conversions. It’s internal reg. So feed goes in the the smaller lower port is the return back to tank. Then single feed goes to the rails. It’s essentially s dead head system.

Posts: 435VY Sedan 2004 series 2 (currently v6)
So currently mine has 5/16 supply and return lines, and the pump has no built in reg
I have the 3/8 supply line from the VX SS Donor car, I didn’t keep the VX SS fuel pump as it’s different to the VY series 2, (the senders are different) but stock Ls1 pumps have a built in regAm I better off removing the return line and just run the stock Ls1 setup (deadhead)

Posts: 435picked up a few more parts from precsion the other day, including my Ls7 lifters and new lifter guides…..
looking to get the gaskets in the next few weeks, could anyone tell me what gaskets are included in a Conversion set? i’ve been told to get a conversion set, and a few other separates gaskets (Exhaust manifold, Intake Manifold, Valley and Valve Covers) to make up what i need.
as some of the new parts already have purchased have gaskets, like waterpump and rear timing cover
im just not sure if its still easier to get a Full set, rather than bits and pieces? and is there a preferred few brands?
