Good to see you on here Tom.

Mines getting tuned for e85 at the moment. Except having trouble keeping the boost down.

Just hope it’s fixed before powercruise. Otherwise I’m stuffed.

    You going to powercruise?

    Bit off a Update.

Car is at RP at the moment getting a bit off work before Qld Powercruise.

    Mods are:

Nathan Higgens CNC 241 Heads , ARP HeadBolts , Thicker Head gasket ,  GM performance Lifters and Pushrods , 10% OD Kit , HD Tentioner , Twin Aeroforce scan Gauges.

10% OD should bump the boost up to around 14-15PSI on 98 :) Bring on the 10sec Pass.

Plenty more mods to come…. All in good Time.

Update , car made 405rwkw and close to 1000nm on a very rich tune to keep it all together on 16psi on 98ron , next on the list is to go back to 3.07 or  3.46 rear diff gears and T400 conversion with e85 fuel system and run some low 10s and crusie on the highway.

Ok Guys looking for some advice , Trans is getting very close to its limits and its starting to give me the shit babying it because in the back off my mind if i give it some serious stick i could go out in a big way.

So these are the requirements and goals i want to achieve with the car.

1:I live in between Brisbane and Sydney so 6hrs odd to powercrusie or drags so needs to be good on the highway 100km/h for instance.

2: Want to evidently run 10.9QM on Et slicks.

    Solutions.

1: Mal woods Built T56  Converion , Mcleod RXT 1000HP Clutch , GM RipShifter.

2: T400 Conversion 3500 Stall , 3.07 Diff gears , witch is still going to rev reasonably high on the highway.

Car Will be going on E85 after gearbox conversion so each option will have to handle 450rwkw min.

Whats the best way to go?

Well I decided auto was the way to go, which really just comes down to personal preference, but a built auto will always be quicker on the strip.  I decided on a built powerglide as they are bullet proof, I am also going with a trans brake. But yep you dont get an overdrive so final drive is 1:1 (same as a T400 though)  You can get overdrive untits, but realistically with the power your making whats the difference in a  few extra mpg cruising?  Its never going to be a Hyundai Getz….

I got a turbo 400 built by craigs automatics good for 800hp.

Wouldn’t  be so bad with a taller ratio like 3:07 or 3.45 but 3.9s suck on the freeway.

    30min drive is enough lol.

Saying that my turbo 400 will handle pretty much anything I throw at it.

    Have you considered the 4l80e?

I drove mine daily when it was just the stroker with the t400 and 4.11s. Wasn’t too bad.

Tom has already asked Craigs about the 4L80 and I believe Craig said they are no good and a lot of money. He advised to go a gearvendor overdrive unit. But they are too expensive with our dollar atm anyway.

Im going to Craigs tomorrow to drop my box off for a tbrake, if anyone has and questions for me to ask him.

Those gearvendor units look the biz but they are pretty expensive to essentially just save some coin on fuel when cruising.

Cheers For the advice Guys , Going to put the ss on E85 first and see how the 4L60e likes the extra power , i have budgeted for the 4L60e to go pop so might as well see how long it lasts.

Then Will be getting Craigs to supply me with one off these 800hp T400 with Trans brake , will leave the 3.91s in the rear as iv just bought a daily then will look into the gearvendors overdrive unit if the AUS dollor comes back into a reasonable state.

As for 4L80e iv been talking to craigs he said for the money you spend building a 4l80e and getting it too fit as there is a little more mucking around to get them into these later model commodores compared to the T400 there still no where near as reliable as the T400 under power.

So a High Stalled T400 will be next on the list after E85.

nobody likes manuals anymore? :( sounds like changing gear yourself will be a lost art pretty soon….

I would have jumped at the Malwood T56 option! You get all the fun, highways would be a breeze, so what if you sacrifice a couple of tenths at the strip, it’s still going to be a friggin quick car?? doing a trackday or going for a drive down a windy mountain road would be boring as crap in an auto :(

I reckon if you are going manual its hard to go past the TR6060 MG9 out of the VF LSA GTS.  And its “only” $3,450 brand new from Holmarts….
