Posts: 227I think you are all correct about the using trans cooler as it would be hot already…. longer piping required too.
I run a 50mm thick A2A cooler for the Pwr Steer, small one on the left.
@IJ where did you get that cooler from?

Posts: 227here’s a vid of a lap on the Clubman Circuit – in hindsight not the greatest raceline, but I wasn’t taking it too serious and it was my first time on the track.

Posts: 227UPDATE – Lakeside Street Sprints 21/11/15
Went and did a track arvo at Lakeside today. I had entered in “Queensland Raceways Street Sprint Series”. It was sold as minimum 4×4 hot laps and it was only $145. I had intended to go with the HSV car club, but this was on at the same time, that is, the HSV car club were there too, and this was cheaper.
Since my last outing at Lakeside, where I did a PB of 1:07.5, I had put in new swaybars (adjustable front) and upgraded the rear rotors. So was hoping to beat my PB.
I showed up at 12.15 and they had an ambulance on the track taking some one away – not what you want to see. The bloke had crashed his ‘radical’ style race car, basically writing it off, and ended up being taking away in an ambulance to hospital.
Went out for the first set of hot laps and traffic was ridiculous, basically the order of the vehicles was completely out of whack and people weren’t slowing down and waving cars past. Hadn’t done laps at lakeside since laste May so my raceline was a bit off at first.
Was out with a broad mix – R33 skyline, Renault Megane’s and Clio’s (Renault Car Club), MX5’s, Integra’s, BMW’s, WRX, newish Alfa. Poor turn out by the HSV car club, only a few newish HSV’s – turns out that they had stacked their booking with MX5’s… anyways…
Second set, I pushed myself up the order to try and get out of the traffic, and I always slow down and wave faster cars past. Ended up just beating my old PB, so was happy with that and felt that there was plenty more time to make up.
Third set went out and about the second lap and came over a blind crest to see a honda integra parked against the wall facing the wrong way. Then I had seen the red lights flashing. I thought that would ruin the track time. Turns out the bloke was fine and his car only had a banged up from left. He ended up driving back to the pits. I think his ego was more battered than the car. So suprisingly, they called us right back out again. Jumped in and got some clean laps as I think half the people didn’t bother going back out. Consistently was in the 1:07’s and got a new PB of 1:07.0.
Fourth set got some good laps but got stuck in traffic and blokes that wouldn’t let you pass. My problem is that with all my brake and suspension mods I actually catch cars, but then when I’m on the main straight they think I can just pull and fly past but the stock original 202,000km just doesn’t have the ponies.
In the break I went and spoke to some blokes to try and get the starting order right so we didn’t have to worry about overtaking which went fine….
Fifth and last set – someone must have told the slow pokes to sit this one out, as they weren’t there and everyone lined up in the correct order. So we all got great clean laps and I managed to get another PB of 1:06.60. almost a second better than my last lakeside outing… Pretty happy with that.
Really happy that I kept getting more consistent and faster the day went on.
Enjoy the screaming Hankook RS3’s!
