Posts: 167I feel I accomplished stuff today.
Removed the cut power steering pipe from the v6, and bent up the new one ready to be measured and adapted to suit the vans rack.
Got the fan done, meaning the cooling system is now ready to be filled.
Mounted the fuel pump but now need to get some hose to plumb it in.
Got started on the mounting of the transmission shifter, it’s welded in place but needs to be boxed in to seal the engine bay.
Items left on the list.
#1
Fuel pump/plumbing.
#2
Transmission cooler/plumbing.
#3
Power steering hose made/plumbed
#4
Pcm vats removal.
#5
Shifter cable(being made atm)
#6
Wiring. (last once everything is mounted/plumbed up. +new plugs

Posts: 167Had a mate come and do final measuring on a new shifter cable and it turns out he can adjust my power steering line so should be right to say those two items can be crossed off the list.

I’m a bit torn as to Wether or not the inline fuel pump I have will do the job of lifting fuel from the tank but other than that I’m almost ready to start wiring and get her kicking.
I still need a trans cooler that is small enough to fit yet big enough to do the job but that and fuel is it now.
I’m halfway between stressed for time and excited as all hell ha

Posts: 167A mate gave me an intank Pump today so I’ll get to pulling out the old tank and see what I can do with it.
also borrowing a flaring tool so I can make some new tails for the transmission to run a cooler on.
Planning to purchase a new battery this week as well, so once my pcm arrives along with a workshop manual, I should be able to get her all wired up.
Kinda looking forwards to it.
December 20, 2016 at 9:29 pm #21154Used just vl turbo/vn external on torrie…just filter sock end of fuel pickup & vs fuel filter after pump.
It was fine untill under 1/4 tank sometimes due to no baffling etc .
Prefer intank setup where possible …less noise
Go steal trans cooler of a vt-x from wreckers cheaply, give it good flush out…theyreok size with good size brackets to mount it out front…vr-s towpack transcoolers were smaller from memory.

Posts: 167The reason I’m just gonna fit intank Pump is the lack of consistency in faith of the external pump being able to draw via the pre existing lines on the tank. Some say it will be fine and others say it won’t.
Based on imagery of the efi E2200 it has a pump cradle that unbolts from the top of the tank. Once I establish this, that will determine what I do. But for now I need to drop the tank and once I do I have a pump ready to go in if I can.
I’ll also run an external Pump just to be sure. And I’m planning on a plastic/clear pre filter and a metal efi post filter. both accessible for easy change.
As for the cooler, I have a built in trans cooler in my new alloy radiator. I actually had the towing pack cooler off the donor car but today when I was attempting to undo the stock lines from it, I sheared one end off accidentally. So in a hangry rage I destroyed it.
It made me feel better about it shearing off.
My dad says he has a subaru cooler kit for me, he just has to find it. So short term I’ll use the radiator cooler.
I need to buy a bunch of hose clamps so I can plumb the fuel lines.

Posts: 167December 24, 2016 at 12:20 pm #21232i personally wouldn’t use that plastic pre-filter. it would seem that it would only be happy submerged in fuel. the socks you get on efi pumps like the walbro 255 have a sponge like effect and draw up the fuel through it. they are really cheap aswell. i got a replacement from my local efi spares place for like $8.00

Posts: 167So I bought a battery yesterday.
This afternoon I decided to actually assess the fuel situation and see if my inline pump would draw fuel from the tank.
And it does!
Means no need to remove the tank to fit and intank Pump

Posts: 167I had a quick go at it this arv.
Got under it and linked up the trans cooler lines until I get a decent cooler for it. That way it’s complete and will no piss it’s fluid everywhere.
Also piped up the fuel pump, it’s pressurising and flowing well. Just need to deal with the fuel return now and it’s done.
Planning on starting the wiring tomorrow and checking all the elecs still work.
Unsure when I get my pcm back at this point but shouldn’t be too far off.
There’s high chance of a new years skid with open headers.
Also, speaking of, I got some extra cash for
Christmas from the in-laws so I’ll be ordering these on Friday.
