Posts: 5 777Btw mag looks bloody awesome, my grand master plan (one day if I have the chance) is an integrated Forum/Facebook Page/Website and Electronic Magazine that all work together and compliment each other. To me that hasn’t been done properly/successfully for the Commodore scene yet.

Posts: 124if there ever was a magazine dedicated to home-builds/in-progress-builds, that went into more detail regarding the build and timeframe, problems that arose and home-made fixes, dramas about roadworthy and/or emissions tests etc, i’d susbscribe three times over.
It would crap on a bunch of half a page write-ups about trailer queens and their $20k paintjobs…
April 1, 2015 at 7:30 pm #3757Love the idea
for the money, for the glory.... and for the fun !! Mostly for the money

Agree 100 times over. Home builds is where it’s at. If I was doing something up and just had to do abit of a write up and take some half decent photos while I was at it, I would.
And I feel it doesn’t matter if you fuck up along the way. Put that in too so others can learn for your mistakes.
Would be mad!

Posts: 118Probably because if it did it exist it would be soemthing that most people can relate to rather than the usual stuff that is produced these days.

Posts: 5 777Yea agreed, tbh I don’t really buy car mags anymore, haven’t for a long time. I agree its so much more interesting reading about what some actual real guy is doing in their shed on their own car. I actually do like to see/watch shows about the guys in shops doing high end cars, but again for me its more about seeing how they do it, not what they do if that makes sense.

This sums up my love for cars. Anyone can read all day about how “this VE put out 1000hp”, but I want to know HOW it works.
What parts did they use and why, what made certain parts more suitable than others, how do those parts actually work together and what dramas did he have trying to put it all together? Are there any new ideas/technologies/modifications they used, all that stuff is the meat of the build

Posts: 5 777Yep agreed, trouble is these days making a number is easy if you have a cheque book, drive in, pay cash, they fit supercharger, dyno, make huge HP, drive out. For me thinking it all through, working through the issues, doing the research, and actually doing as much as you can is where most of the fun is.

Posts: 124paying stupid money for X amount of horsepower isn’t necessarily going to make a car fun to drive either, people who actually enjoy driving will pay attention to things like the balance of the car, tyre and wheel choice, suspension and bushings, throttle response and and where your power band is.

Posts: 5 777Yep peak power is only a small piece of the puzzle, for a streeter anyway its all about the area under the curve.
