    Hi

The gasket for my Edelbrock intake manifold is very slightly leaking when I stop my car, its at the front of the engine where the front 1st 2 bolt are for on the intake manifold.

My coolant is not oily, my oil is not milky white, my car isn’t over heating (temp is only getting up to 1/4-1/3 otherwise less most times) and no lose of performance/power loss, everything is running sweet on my car.

I know this is a replacement eventually but as a band aid solution at the present time as I dont have time thus yet to change it over would some intake manifold sealant (just a small smear) on the area where is a small weep be ok or ?

This is the gasket sealant is was looking at – Permatex Ultra Blue® Multipurpose RTV Silicone Gasket Maker.

    Cheers

Try putting sealant on the bolts in the area where it’s leaking.

Would I just smear the gasket sealant around the whole length of the thread or just a the top under the bolt head ?

    Cheers,

Have you tried re-torquing the intake bolts?

another good point. One by one remove, add Paste to thread and re torque.

Im pretty sure early heads the intake manifold bolts break into the water ports.

Yes I do believe they do so would definitely need to be coated with sealant.

I don’t have a torque ratchet so I have only tightened as good as I can with a normal socket ratchet.

Ill coat the front intake manifold bolts and hopefully that should be sweet.

    Cheers,

Remove all bolts and use sealant. And just get them tight by hand. I don’t torque to a specific spec
