Posts: 154Any Holden that doesn’t have VVT or pump at least 12:1 static should get in the sea.
Naturally as-pirated, all-motor.

Thats OK, I am still trying to get my head around this
“the thing i love about building Holden v8s is they will make real horsepower ,hp for hp,the holden v8 will run quicker than an ls1”

Posts: 154Original post by VRSenator065 Well I know this is going to be very very controversial, but to me the trouble is the 5L is very old technology. I mean yes I know you can get them to go, but they just are never going to have the reliability or ultimate power output of later engines. Now if you don’t mind I think I might go and put on my asbestos suit while I wait for the flame session to start
Get in the bin!

Not having a crack at him, the guy obviously knows his stuff and is one of the best around. I just genuinely can’t work out what exactly he means. For example what does he mean by “real horsepower” and “hp for hp,the holden v8 will run quicker than an ls1” does he mean if a Holden V8 and LS1 have identical hp figures the Holden will run quicker ET? If so how and why?
May 14, 2015 at 3:17 pm #6836all good,at a guess the way they make torque, whats the old saying, torque moves it gearing & revs is mph.again I’m no guru just having a laugh, didn’t mean to offend anyone with last post either,if i did I’m am truly sorry, sincerely ,like someone else said sometimes the key board is taken the wrong way,all apologies .Chris.

Posts: 5 777All good mate, we all step over the line occasionally, at least you are prepared to admit it.
Re the torque etc, I just don’t really buy it, there are so many variables. I mean are we comparing a bog stock Holden V8 to a bog stock LS1? Because if we aren’t maybe we should compare a stroked 355 with my stroked 454 LSx. And pretty sure hp for hp my car wins the torque war there. LS is modern technology, original Holden is old. Its as simple as that. If you go to one of the new aftermarket “Holden” blocks, then you should be comparing it with an aftermarket LS block like RHS etc, otherwise its comparing apples with oranges.
May 14, 2015 at 9:38 pm #6865The new holden block is meant to shit all over any aftermarket LS block.
Torque doesn’t win races…..

Its funny the point u are talking about as the guy who dynoed my motor said it would smash a ls1 with more power. Not sure reasoning for this comment
