Strange 9″ centre with 3.5 gears and lightweight full spool
Calvert leafs
Caltracs
Meziere electric water pump
Adjustable alternator bracket (should look nice with only the balancer and alternator running a belt)
Wilwood rear brakes and 35 spline floater will be here next week and the wheels and Tyres the week after.
Anyone know a good place to get a 9″ diff housing with 3.25″ tubes?

Posts: 208So I wanted to get my T400 built to handle 1000hp+ with a transbrake. Turns out it’s quite costly and not much less then a already built powerglide.
So spontaneous thinking has made me purchase a 1800hp Powerglide from Mikes Transmissions in the US (but through a supplier over here).
So I now have a complete VT-VZ T400 conversion forsale for $3800 delivered (east coast of Aus)
T400. Forward pattern 800hp new seals and gaskets 18/11/15 (have receipt for that and original purchase)
Speedo sensor
Crossmember
Torque converter suit turbo/blown 3500 stall
2 piece tailshaft

Yanks rate their boxes to a specific weight.
No Reid case? What did that bad boy set you back.

Wasn’t aware of that. There’s no weight listing on Mikes transmissions website either.
I’m hoping that race weight the HK will be around 1400kg. The RTA think it weighs 1100kg standard at the moment.
1400kg is my lower limit in x275.
No Reid case. Couldn’t justify the extra $2000. Can get the bell housings pretty cheap, which are SFI approved.
Gearbox, bellhousing and speedo unit was around $5200. Less my t400 conversion. So not too bad. Or $4000 to have my t400 build to 1500hp.

did you get equivalent box priced down here? I think you would be suprised on what it would cost TBH.
Converter?

I got quotes for $6500 from Protrans. Not sure on the case. But I’d say it was a Reid case.
Going a new converter. Stepping up to a 10 1/4″

Posts: 5 777I just went glide, and love it . I got one built here, I went Reid case but it wasn’t 2k, there is also another case (cant remember exact name) and its made by Reid, and pretty close to exact same specs as there “Reid” case, its just unbranded and a couple of hundred bucks less. Are those $$ fitted?

November 21, 2015 at 2:40 am #11495Hey mate, did you do the T400 conversion into the calais yourself?
Was it tricky, or does it all bolt in pretty easy, i assume you cant drive it without a tune etc first.

Not sure with your HK, but with the VR the mount on the back of the glide sat higher than the original gearbox, so we were able to just use a spacer block between the original cross member and the gearbox. Just saved making up a whole new cross member. As I say thought yours might be totally different. Keep the updates coming, cool build

I do most things with my mate, who is a mechanic. But it’s an after hours type deal. So I have help when needed.
I does bolt straight in though. Hardest part is getting the shifter setup exactly how you want it. As in square and centre. Otherwise it’s just like an other gearbox change.
I’d assume that also, because I went t400 at the same time as the stroker.
Hoping to make the cross member myself as well.

Something I forgot about today. Spent the day at the APSA final and stuck my head in just about every x275 engine bay. Including a HK monaro, but forgot to ask about his gearbox mount.
Was a very good day though. The HDT275 Vc commodore from QLD is a crazy car. Ran 7.5s on a x275 tyre just before I left.
Apparently with the setup I intend to run should be a good competitor, hopefully by mid next year.

Floaters are from Race Products in QLD and are fully engineer able. The Strange engineering set is not.

Will definitely be street driven. Ultimate goal would be to do drag challenge.
