Posts: 5 777Starting to to get to the fun bit now, bet you had a smile looking at the engine again… You going to powder coat the k frame etc? I did, its a little extra $$ but its so easy to keep clean etc and always looks mint.

Posts: 585Was like a kid at Christmas. Sending the loom, pedal and computer to CAE tomorrow.
wont get it powdercoated, a mate is going to paint it for me. He has a steam cleaner at work and will paint it, he works for a mining equipment company so it won’t cost anything, and I like that cost haha.
aiming to get the motor in around early June. Gotta get the bay painted in the next couple of weeks and start putting the front end back together, should have the box and gear from CAE by the end of next month.

Need to get hub adaptors to do the brake upgrade. Not many options to choose from, eBay has a pair for $195 but they look like generic, probably chinese made ones. Holmart have them for $340 a pair, but they look like better quality. Any suggestions?
Got a bunch of parts ready to pick up from the wreckers. Sent the loom and computer off today. Gonna try and get the bay ready this weekend to paint the following weekend.

Posts: 5 777What hub adapters do you mean mate, just the rings for the fronts or the adapters for the hand brakes?

Posts: 5 777I just used these kinda things on the front, and swapped to the VT style hand brake mechanism on the rear that’s a bolt on. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Hub-Centric-Rings-OD-73-1mm-ID-69-6mm-Holden-COMMODORE-VB-VZ-Aluminium-Alloys-/182126025821?hash=item2a678e9c5d:m:m_-Z5NRD1xvoGclE8ZNoKOw

Posts: 585Early Commodores need the hub adapters if you’re doing a VT brake upgrade cause the discs are different.

Called Holmart, they only have one hub left and wont be getting any more for at least a couple of months. Hoppers Stoppers have some in stock, anyone had any dealings with them? Their ones are $360 for a pair, including bearings
April 27, 2017 at 10:24 am #22547Hopper Stoppers are pretty good to deal with.
April 27, 2017 at 10:29 am #22548Yeah hoppers stoppers are good to deal with go there. Holmart could well be the rudest people I have ever dealt with in the auto industry lol
Might also be worth talking to hoppers stoppers about engineers look for as well in braking systems

Just spoke to them and ordered a pair of hub adaptors. They said if they don’t have them on the shelf it’ll take a week to get made which is fine.
April 27, 2017 at 10:48 am #22552Glad to hear mate, might be also worth speaking to them about what sort of stuff engineers require in this stuff

I’ve been speaking with an engineer in Newcastle about the build. He said VT brake upgrade will be fine with an LS3 and wont need a brake test.
I do need to get new hard lines for the front though. Probably the rear as well knowing my luck.
