Posts: 5 777Excellent, thanks for that, I just havent refitted the wiper cover, but the under bonnet liner was wrecked, so would be sweet to fit a new one, cheers for that.
Slight snag, apparently I need the “windscreen lacing” which tbh I had no idea off. Trying to see if its available or if i have to try and find some good second hand.
January 15, 2019 at 9:03 am #27791Actually get the bonnet liner from tru fit they make them for rare spares(link supplied is rare spares onseller) they can finish them off better at similar price as rare spares makes them do it to a budget and puts their markup on them. Rare spares ones are not nicely finished on the sides just open foam cut. ”
” keeping in mind that the edge will be a lot neater and finished with a black binding”January 16, 2019 at 12:44 pm #27795

Posts: 5 777Woo hoo, anyone into VL’s (like I am becoming) will know that he front window lacings are rare to find as they are VL specific. And to find one in mint condition is as hard to find as rocking horse shit. But I scored one!! Have to say got onto a guy called Steve from Vintage Commodores, top bloke to deal with, actually understands the term “good condition” compared to some others I have bought parts second hand for it. But cool as, will try and fit it myself I think, that way I can take the time to get it right, then have another crack (excuse the pun) at geting the screen fitted.

Posts: 5 777Screens in, permit booked for today for rego. Took it for a bit of a stealthy drive last night, seems to drive beautifully for its age. Only issue was when I got home I switched it off and gave it a test start, and the battery was less than ordinary. Put it on charge overnight. Started first pop this morning. Did the old remove battery lead whilst running and it kept running so its charging at least. Thought its probably just the battery not being used for so long and old, so went up first thing this morning when the shops opened and bought a new one as insurance. So Suesy is going to take it to Regency today and see if we can get it regoed. Fingers crossed. Not sure what its like in other states, but here it “should” be a simple check numbers are correct, check not stolen, rubber stamp,. But they also have the power to defect it on the spot if they aren’t happy. Basically, my experience is they can be arseholes, and sometimes nice. Fingers crossed…

Posts: 5 777Thanks all, super excited/relieved. Anyone in SA will know the words “Regency Inspection” strike fear and dread into the heart of any car guy. It will be so much easier to gradually tidy it up now I can drive it. Also picked up my brand spanking new Kart trailer I designed from Vic, so have now have the tow car to use it. Happy days
January 27, 2019 at 4:26 pm #27836But do you have a kart??

Posts: 5 777Used the VL for its first tow duties on the weekend, runs awesome when started, but has devloped a cold start issue. Bit of research and it sounds like maybe a common problem with the Quadrajet, so reckon I might buy an overhaul kit and have a crack at doing it myself.
