    Hey all,

Thought it was time to get back into the forums for some real enthusiasts builds and expertise – facebook just has too many “experts” at times…Anyway ive been around the SA Commodore scene for way too many years and probably best known for my contribution and MC work @ Cruise 4 Charity each year. This year i have shifted focus and are committed to my entry in the Aussie Muscle Car Run each year to raise funds for the Luekaemia Foundation of SA, getting to play in cool cars whilst making a contribution to those in need.

After spending 9 years restoring a genuine HDT VL LE Calais Turbo i was made an offer on the car not long after getting her back on the road and decided to let her go….only to free up some folding $$ to build up a fun factor car that i could actually use rather than having a nice car in the shed to look at but not really play with. So we have a VK in throws of modification to compete in the AMCR – the car needs to ravel up to 3000km each event reliably as well as be capable of flogging down a drag strip on the run and even lapping places like Phillip Island and Bathurst. Basically it needs to be functional, comfortable, look and sound tough and be representative of true aussie muscle car heritage.

Over the years ive owned and built a number of Gen 1 commodores including VH SLE’s, VL GpA SV Walkinshaw, HDT VK SS Gp3, HDT VH SS Gp3, VE HDT Retro, VN SV3800, VN SS SV Enhanced, a stack of VL Calais including the HDT LE Turbo and these days the daily is a VF2 SS LS3 Black Edition. So to say im a Commodore nut is probably an understatement lol.

Anyway ill put together a build up thread soon and i look forward to the feedback and thoughts from the members on Comm+ forum.

    Cheers

    Col

Hey Col, welcome to the forum mate, great to have you on board.  That’s a bloody nice list of Commodores you have owned right there.  Love you to start up a build thread on the VK.  I agree facebook is good for instant stuff, but nothing beats a forum for real advice, but also and easy to follow chronology of your build.  I refer back to mine a lot to remember exactly what I did.  There are some truly amazing build on here, check out Cappsy’s VL, VSManta#218’s 800+ hp Holden weapon, IJ’s awd Lexcan just as a start, plus a heap of others enjoy :good:
