Posts: 5 777Hi All, kinda feel like I have asked this before but cant find the thread. I have a 6 car garage, and the first bay has a TV and soon to be pool table for Bathurst parties etc. I plan on eventually doing something with the floor of the whole shed as its where I want to store my cars. But i want to just start off with the first two bays. The second is where the Senator will normally sit, but when I am having a bloke show it will get moved across. I am thinking some sort of black and white tile theme would look cool.
This is the kind of look I am thinking;
Any suggestions on what people have done?

Posts: 585I like the epoxy coating that has a bit of a marble effect, can get it in different colours. Not sure what the grip level is though. Can go for something nice if it isnt going to be a workshop and more of a display/storage area.

Posts: 5 777My son was talking to me about that stuff. Might have to look into it. I just don’t want to have to go the full 18m yet.

You talking stick on squares or roll?
July 21, 2020 at 3:47 pm #32581The roll stuff.
Mate has it & it’s great. Make sure it comes 100-150mm up the walls, that way u can just hose everything off. Get any pattern you want.

How does it go with dragging a jack around on it etc? Got a pic of your mates flooring?

When he uses jack stand he puts a timber under the stand.July 21, 2020 at 6:47 pm #32586Looked into this when I first moved here, there’s + and – for all of the alternatives, as nice as it would have been in the end I didn’t bother..
If I have spills I’ve found the cheap SuperCheap degreaser actually floats the Oil up and out of the concrete then you just wipe it up with a rag.

Thats it. There is always a trade off.
You either keep it pretty or you keep it practical
July 22, 2020 at 6:34 pm #32592The tiles look good and priced reasonable for a pop up showroom man cave section, ceramic tiles would be the best for long term wear and tear depending on decisions with budget.
Why not do both concepts , the tiles for the cleaner display man cave area and the hard wearing epoxy coating for the mechanical working bay areas.
I wouldn’t bother with vinyl stick on stuff, to many issues with cleaning, wear and repair, better to use the old lino instead, you could find the old gloss black and white 50’s garage tile look still available somewhere.
The epoxy coating is ideal for working on cars and cleaning any greasy spills plus better looking than plain concrete, in the old days oxide colour pigments were used in concrete and the steel trowl high gloss finish to help with cleaning and working with cars.

Posts: 5 777No “working” in this garage, its purely storage/display/man cave. I have my “workshop” at home, that’s where the work happens. I actually used a paint on sealer on that floor, its sort of works, oils spills clean up easy. I want something that’s practical, looks nice and relatively inexpensive. I like the idea of the interlocking “tiles” , they arent stick down, and you can make a nice design, and if anything happens, pull them up and replace the damaged ones.

Posts: 585Yep I reckon epoxy. Can get kits from Bunnings or SuperCheap. Do a combo if you like the tiles, have them where the man cave area is.

That’s not a bad plan actually…
