VR’s were a Tin can at best… There’s some to come out, not a lot though. 428mm shorter overall. 84mm narrower, 31mm shorter in the wheelbase and 84mm narrower track.

Lose the attitude up or I’ll send you on a holiday

LOL do your worst Mod Boy  :yahoo:

Really looking forward to this build. Having followed the VR build its clear how much you picked up along the way development wise.  Should be great to start again but with tons more knowledge . Game on.

Exactly Gary, I more or less went into the VR blind with NFI what I “needed” to compete in Autocross and the car was compromised from day #1 and only got worse trying to make it do double duty as it was built..

    ———————————

Back to “Plan A”, logistics of resurrection are just too difficult and costly so it’s off to scrap in the morning..

Fast forward it’s gone to RaceCar heaven..

Official results from last weekend at Wodonga are in, 1st in class 2nd overall, not a bad send off for the Fat Bitch

Especially considering it’s built in handicaps!

Does the way the front diff works, means the engine sits where it sits in relation to the front axle centerline?  Is it possible to change the way that works so you can get a better choice in diff ratios?  or is that too hard?

Th Engine is getting mounted behind the Diff this time, the 3.46:1 is a good compromise ratio with the 3 speed Trans so I’ll stick with what I have, that and the diff has only done 40 Km’s from brand new

Had a bit of a fiddle with the front suspension/steering layout, this is setup at 0 camber so once it’s set to 2.5 neg the tyres should go under the bolt on flares with no issues..

    Give me time  ;-)

Yeah it’s funny the cars aren’t hugely different in size but they never looked big on the Lexcen at all.. should be better once it’s at ride height..

    —————————-

Going to run into height issues trying to make one set of shocks do both autocross and tarmac, the Koni’s I use are just too long so by the time you lower it for tar it’s on the bump stops… Solution, I’ll cut up the set of Coilovers I bought and fit the Koni’s into them so they’re lighter and more adjustable,

I purchased another set of the Max Coilovers that are adjustable damping and much shorter for tarmac, they’re so cheap it’s easier to build two complete sets and they’re no brand XYZ clones so should do the job for sprints and hill climbs..

Proof of concept day with the Coilovers, cut up a pair of bodies then modded the Koni inserts, made an extender and an anti clunk sleeve for the lower tubes, all good!

You can see the length difference and why I opted to buy a second set and have dedicated shocks for each discipline.

Have to go and buy some material to make the upper spring seats then I’ll do the second pair.

Rinse and repeat what I did yesterday, I machine steps into each piece so they lock together, then I use the big piece of all thread to clamp it while welding.

There’s a before and after pic of the anti clunk sleeve that’s needed in the bottom of the tube, normally Koni’s bolt into the bottom but with a CV joint under the strut that restricts the height adjustment.

Last pic is my solid axle I use to locate and build the suspension, this way if the measurements are correct it’s all good..

Looks very open like that, maybe easier to work with?  Its similar to how the VE front is set up with the chassis rails?
