Cold wet miserable weather, short proof of concept day, had to machine one of the rollers to get the form I want but all good to go ahead with the rest of the panels!

Yep it’s a massive job Frazer, bit daunting when I started on this phase, I find if I break things up into small sections it’s not quite as bad..

Super neat on the drivers side, that passenger side with all the gubbins looks like it made it a bit of a nightmare!!

Yeah bit of a pain to do, that side is always a hassle no matter which car it’s all in..

Bit more done, think I’m over the hump… All downhill from here.

I was gonna suggest making one of the top panels removable for easy access when pulling engine/trans in and out but you already welded the sucker in.

There’s not really anything in there you need to get to for removal, it all drops out the bottom, I’ll add in a couple of access panels in the sides so I can get to the rear plugs though.

Knocked over the two hardest sections today, the rest should be relatively easy!

    how much bmw is left?

    As little as possible  ;-)

One step forward one back and one forward again.. had this side cut out and ready to weld in around lunchtime, wasn’t enough room for nutserts so I went into town and got some 6mm nuts..

Tigged them in as captives only to find I’d welded the cover on.. DOH, lesson learnt start again and make bigger covers with nutsert room..

After doing the difficult bit of the firewall the other day it’s been on my mind..

Quick measure this morning confirmed it, one step back again, coils don’t clear, easy fix would be to relocate them, anyone that knows me knows I rarely take the easy way, full day rework and I’m back to where I was..

If I never butt weld another piece of 1mm sheet it’ll be too soon..

Thanks Gary, might have been easier to go Tube Chassis then all the tin work would be non structural but it’s almost done now!

ALL forward today, off to Melbourne in the morning to collect my headers from the coaters!

Yep, I’ll be glad when that part is complete for sure!

Back from deepest darkest Coburg.. for a long while there I thought this day would never come where the exhaust was 100% finished!

Had to do a test fit when I got back to be sure..

Bit of a packaging nightmare but it’s done and good.
