Posts: 435If yours is a genuine clubby it should have knock sensor wiring, all vt 5lts run knock sensors
October 25, 2015 at 8:11 pm #10601Yea genuine clubby but when I got it, it had a “stroker” in it with a vk block. Cheers for the info I’ll just have to see what wiring it’s got.

March 26, 2016 at 2:43 pm #15232They do look good on an engine stand that’s for sure, be a lot better when it’s finished haha
Didnt end up dropping the vt motor in, just focusing on finishing the stroker. So it’s just sitting on a stand in the shed waiting to find a new home.

Posts: 775man the is motor porn right there , the high energy sumps are good
is the t5 going to handle the power / torque
March 27, 2016 at 5:37 pm #15257Cheers man happy with the way it’s turning out, actually have an asr sump on the way for it.
As for the t5, it should be able to handle the power. If it does end up failing I’ll get an auto built for it.
March 27, 2016 at 5:43 pm #15258Why you changing the sump. Not happy with the high energy?
IMO the t5 won’t last with the power/revs the motor will want. Don’t get too heavy a clutch or a brass button. Somthing like an HD organic type will be the best thing to “attempt” to keep the box alive.
Will ll be a much happier combo with 3.9/4.11 gearing also.

March 27, 2016 at 6:53 pm #15260Not overly happy with it and found a new asr sump for a good price aswell.
From what I’ve read the t5 should be fine as long as I don’t kick the clutch in 3rd and give it a hard time. Gone away from chasing massive power with the car and will be happy just to cruise it. Just a matter of seeing how it goes I guess. 3:9s are going in aswell

Posts: 5 777Driveline longevity is so much about how you drive it and how mechanically sympathetic you are as much as power/torque/grip.

My old man had a T5 behind a 268rwkw stroker for 3 years, driving it every day and giving it a squirt most days without an issue. The guy who bought the car destroyed the T5 quick smart though. Can be very much about how you treat it.
March 28, 2016 at 12:03 pm #15279Yea that’s exactly right, the t5 held up with the old combo with a short shifter and brass button clutch. Mind you that was only making 304hp.
March 28, 2016 at 4:05 pm #15287The way I see it you don’t build a motor like this to just put around in. Some sported driving will be inevitable. Motor like this will like and want RPM so it’s going to have to rev to make the most of it.
IMO and what I did was sell the t5 for some decent coin and put that towards somthing you know won’t break.
each to own
May 22, 2016 at 1:22 pm #17066Bit of a setback on the motor, looks like I’m going to have to get the manifold machined. Far bit of a gap and injector bosses don’t really line up that great. All bolt holes lined up so hopefully not a lot of work to get that sorted. Was making good progress and trying to get the car ready for red centrenats 2 in September.

Posts: 39Agreed Gary, do it once, do it right. Looking good though mate. Will be worth it when you fire it up and take it for its first run!!
September 20, 2016 at 8:21 pm #19782Hoping to bolt the manifold up on the weekend, just after some advise on where to put sensors and line for brake booster. Any ideal runner that I need to use and is it as simple as just tapping a thread? Any advise/photos would be great
