Posts: 535It definitely is a nice work lamp. Nothing worse than working on a car in the garage with great lighting only to be working in the shadows because of the bonnet.

Posts: 5 777Yea totally agree, looks like you can get battery ones too. I have the underbonnet felt thing so there’s not really a place to clip a light, and I hate the cord running against the paint up into the bay as well. Reckon I will get one and give it a go. Could always glue some foam or something to the clamps to make sure it doesn’t damage the paint at all if it gets knocked.
July 5, 2016 at 10:22 am #18189The clamps are rubber. It’s spring loaded so it holds it self in place.
Mine doesn’t have a lead. It’s rechargeable LED. I got it on sale at rep I plus my VIP Card for $79 down from $219

Posts: 535OK, so the main part of the swap is now in my possession
I’ve been trying to figure out what the 2 hollow posts next to the centre bolt holes were and it looks like the manifold was cast with a heat cross-over for engine coolant rather than an exhaust cross-over the early type pollution manifolds had, this of course isn’t much use to us however underneath the manifold there are 2x 20mm grub screws in said passage which got me thinking I can use this as a valley breather setup instead
Looks like whom ever had this manifold before had it coated in something so there is no corrosion anywhere neither has it had any porting work done so it is very much a virgin manifold in many respects
edit: forgive the shitty phone pics

Posts: 5 777Nice piece of kit, you given any thought to maybe ceramic coating it, would look mint.

Posts: 535Yes, it will be getting some HPC treatment. Contemplating doing the top in a black wrinkle type coating but have the Harrop name plate done in gloss black.
Hope to have it at the machine shop later this week to get the injector boss’s machined to suit.
July 11, 2016 at 5:15 pm #18348Should look into milling that divider down 10-20mm.
It made pretty good gains on the new Edlebrock manifold.

Posts: 535I’m probably going to go with a 1/2″ open spacer which should achieve the same result, seeing as this manifold is slightly lower than a TP low dual it should still fit without issue. With a spacer on top I should also be able to blend a nice radius into the top runners which was the original reason for fitting it.
July 11, 2016 at 6:29 pm #18351speaking of the new edelbrock manifold cav do you or anyone else know how good they are, the pricing doesn’t seem too bad, I’m trying to figure out which way to go and want it to fit under the bonnet, I like the look of the come singleplane aswell but I’m not sure how good they are, heard mixed reviews
July 11, 2016 at 7:02 pm #18353There is tests on the Holden 355 FB page.
Even ens with a tickle up it couldn’t match theTP

Posts: 535I wonder if anybody has ever done a comparison between the Harrop and TP DP manifolds?
July 11, 2016 at 7:41 pm #18358ahh spewing I’m not on facebook anymore I do miss the car stuff though I have to admit, all the other crap not so much lol, so the TP manifold is probably the way to go you reckon?
July 11, 2016 at 7:56 pm #18360Imo yep. Mine was good.
July 15, 2016 at 9:05 am #18435Should look into milling that divider down 10-20mm. It made pretty good gains on the new Edlebrock manifold.
The Harrop is a totally different manifold to the Edelbrock AG with different runner layout which are shorter with less cross section (read: less volume) plus a smaller plenum.
Pretty dangerous suggesting to just copy what worked on the Edlebrock hi-rise dual plane may (and probably) won’t work on a low-rise dual.
The only reason Wayne milled out the divider was to correct the lean left bank (by balancing out the plenum pulses) which was determined with a fair amount of dyno time.
